3 Musical Musts for this Weekend

BY Margo Steines | March 29, 2017 | Feature Features

Local talent and an international tour converge in an array of soulful shows this weekend. Treat your ears to one of these exciting offerings from O'ahu's finest venues.
Kimié Miner, shot on location at La Mer, Halekulani

1. We love the lush lyrical stylings of Kimié Miner. Fusing acoustic soul, jazz and reggae, her music is eclectic, electrifying and deeply rooted in her native Hawaiian heritage. Kimié graces the Waikiki Shell on Saturday as part of the KCCN bash, and we wouldn’t miss it for the world. 4/1. 5PM. Tickets $39. Waikiki Shell, 2805 Monsarrat Ave., Waikiki, 768.5400

2. Jazz-rock titans Blood, Sweat & Tears offer us four dazzling nights of music at the Blue Note Hawai’i. Featuring American Idol vocalist Bo Bice and a dazzling cover of Midnight Rider, these performances are equal parts nostalgia and novelty, echoing the seventies in modern style. 3/30-4/2. 6:30PM and 9:00PM. Premium tickets $55. Blue Note Hawaii, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, 2335 Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki, 777.4890

3. Grab a mai tai and get soulful with singer-songwriter Tim Rose’s intimate Aloha Friday show at RumFire. The two-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano nominee plays a sultry mix of electric funk, soul and R&B that is sure to excite your aural appetite! 3/31. 5-8PM. Free. RumFire, Sheraton Waikiki, 2255 Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki, 922.4422
