Summary:

When Ela joined Modern Luxury in 2005, there were only 8 city magazines. She was brought on to create an efficient editorial workflow that blended local and national content contributions and set editorial practices to brand together each publication. Once she developed a unified workflow for local and national content and set deadlines for our team, she created editorial standards with a Modern Luxury style guide and made AP Style rules our practice. Years later came more city magazines, the launch of our ancillary books (Interiors and Weddings), plus multiple custom publications and now Modern Luxury is at a count of 65+ publications. With some tweaks to workflow made by the VPs of Editorial she has worked for over the years, Ela is proud to say the standard core workflow remains an efficient model to produce the number of books Modern Luxury publishes on a monthly basis. She also worked through the birth of digital at Modern Luxury, overseeing a simple team of two (including her) who posted all our content from print to web (using HTML!). Fast forward to today, where Modern Luxury has grown to have a streamlined digital department leading the way with superb SEO practices. She believes the best part of working at Modern Luxury is meeting all the creative talents. Ela trains new editors on our systems and workflow, oversees the team of managing editors, and gains great insight from each of them. She says she admires our national fashion team as they continue to amaze, and she builds off their creative energy when writing content for various markets, which have included Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, California, Scottsdale, Texas, and most recently, she serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Hawai‘i. Her passion is writing about travel, but she loves covering all things creative, whether in the arts, home design or delicious delights. Luckily, here at Modern Luxury, we cover it all! FUN FACT: Ela is a mom of two athletic boys: one in hockey and the other in baseball and basketball, so you’ll always find her and her husband in the stands cheering…
