The fashion-minded know that slipping into the new season with a fresh warm-weather wardrobe can be a catalyst to a stellar summer. Enter Saïnt Mojavï—a Los Angeles-based brand with Maui girl Teresa Pinedo at the helm. The latest collection, The Matevilya, for summer 2019, keeps those with that free-spirited nomadic lifestyle in mind, featuring feminine frocks and sweet separates in earth tones such as clay and seafoam green, and floral hues like lilac and marigold. Ladylike cuts and breathable fabrics—think cotton eyelet, gingham and luxurious silks—are travel-friendly, making them equally perfect for summer soirees and resort stays. Surprisingly, it was only a few years ago that Pinedo launched this luxe ready-to-wear line. She trained under the Canadian-turned-Maui-based designer Maggie Coulombe, who taught her the ins and outs of the fashion world, while also dipping her toes in the world of business and finance, working for the co-founder of Facebook. Pinedo’s hard work, determination and passion paid off before she even turned 30, when she made her dream a stunning reality and her first collection landed a spot in Fred Segal’s West Hollywood locale. Always taking inspiration from Mother Nature and her Hawai‘i roots—a haven for style savvy travelers—and harnessing her own sense of wanderlust, Pinedo is in a poised position to deliver many more ready-to-wear collections that elevate the everyday of a fashion-forward global generation.
