JUST SAY Spaaaah!

With only nine luxury suites, ESPACIO, The Jewel of Waikiki, is a hotel experience unlike any other. Open for a year, the hotel—whose $5,000-a-night price tag comes with so many amenities and services you’ll feel like a celebrity—is especially proud of its spa. Located on the penthouse level, having only two treatment rooms allows for the utmost in privacy and social distancing, available to both guests and visitors. The hotel is proud to be the first hotel to carry Shiseido’s ocean-friendly sunscreen (available liberally throughout the property), as well as to offer Polynesian-inspired spa treatments. Choose from services such as Waiola, a Hawaiian violet clay massage ritual, or Kalani, a five-elements exotic clay massage ritual. Kalani includes the use of essential oil blends that correspond to earth, fire, water, wood and metal, Hawai‘i’s five elements. 2452 Kalakaua,

Terry and Lyn M. Lam, MD, moved to the Big Island from O‘ahu 24 years ago to provide affordable, accessible and ethical healthcare to women, and in the process noticed how detrimental traditional nail polishes can be and founded Kapa Nui Nails ( “When we discovered what women were enduring—health risks, damage to their nails and using chemicals that are considered hazardous waste—we felt compelled to provide a healthy and environmentally safe option,” says Dr. Lam. “We feel we have experienced the true spirit of aloha in people’s lives, and this inspires us to create healthier choices while giving joy. Living in the amazing natural beauty of Hawai‘i has nurtured a creativity within us and a desire to protect this precious environment.” The brand is part of Mana Up, an accelerator program that supports Hawai‘i-based brands. Terry Lam says that Mana Up has offered “incredible mentoring with large doses of hard business advice, resources, emotional support and directed guidance. The ‘ohana of colleagues that share our struggles and the joys of our achievements is priceless.” Expect over 30 colors, ranging from Manta Ray to Maui Rose, as well as base coat, top coat, remover and even a strengthener.
