When the Coconut Ave (coconutave.com) boutique opened in Queen’s Marketplace in Waikōloa on Hawai‘i Island in early 2023, it quickly became an island favorite for quality swimwear and stylish resortwear. Friends and founders Kelly Pila and Mahealani Gambill were committed to creating a company as eco-friendly as possible, from materials to production. While the island lifestyle brand is rooted in nature and eco-friendliness, it does not compromise on style. Their bestselling Pueo print swimwear is a Hawaiian twist on the classic animal print, while their Ohia Lehua print honors the red Hawaiian flower. The Hilo natives opened a second location in their hometown in August 2023 and are excited to announce their upcoming collaboration with fashion designer Sig Zane for the Merrie Monarch event in April 2024, pairing contemporary designs with traditional Hawaiian motifs.
