Fall 2019 looks from Alexander McQueen
This fall sees the opening of Alexander McQueen’s first store in Hawaii at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. The concept store draws on tension between the raw and refined, contemporary and traditional, in-step with the house’s “savage beauty” aesthetic. The brand, helmed by Creative Director Sarah Burton, favors structured ethereal separates like tunics and trousers for fall. Burton teamed up with architect Smiljan Radic to conceive the new store, which celebrates curved lines evocative of the human form. An experimental cotton-crete installation fashioned from papier-mâché has been developed for the space, which employs oak and walnut surfaces denoting the craftsmanship for which the house is known.
