From modeling to commercials to Hawaii Five-0, Krista Alvarez is acting her way up.

“I FEEL AS though I am on a path with perfectly measured out steps, a gradual climb, that’s leading me exactly where I want to be,” says up-and-coming actress Krista Alvarez. One look in her direction and stardom is a likely assumption.

Parlaying modeling into nonspeaking parts in commercials and shorts, Alvarez landed her first speaking role in the TV hit Hawaii Five-0. “Two lines to be exact,” she says. “I shared a scene with Alex O’Loughlin, Doug Savant and William Forsythe, who are all incredibly talented actors. I learned so much by working with them and watching them.” Then came the 2016 comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Initially brought on as a stand-in for fellow brown-eyed beauty Aubrey Plaza, Alvarez was ultimately put in shots with headliners Zac Efron and Adam Devine by the director.

If forming her own cast of collaborators, she looks straight to the top of the marquee. “I’d love to work with Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, The Rock, Mark Wahlberg—there are too many to name.”

With this roster, one wonders if Alvarez’s career is destined for lights, camera…action? “I’m a sports girl,” she says. “I love dirt biking and shooting guns.” But the “somewhat competitive” starlet notes that although she’s played sports most of her life—often coed—“I’m also a team player.”

While not at liberty to speak about certain forthcoming projects “just yet,” Alvarez does reveal that she and a friend co-wrote a short and feature they hope to produce and film this year. Now residing on O‘ahu, Alvarez says, “It’s peaceful and inspiring here. My eyes enjoy beautiful things and Hawai‘i is exactly that.”
