The Party
One of the country’s longest-running wine and food events, Kapalua Wine & Food Festival dazzled oenophiles and foodies once again this summer. While The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua hosted the packed wine tastings and celeb-chef demonstrations, the fest welcomed a new glamorous venue, the Montage Kapalua Bay, this year.
The Scene
From Jojo Vasquez of The Plantation House to Riko Bartolome of the Montage’s new Cane & Canoe, some of Maui’s hottest chefs were serving up top-notch fare.Popping in from the sunny South Shore was Brent Martin, executive chef of the Andaz Maui at Wailea, who was assisting his fellow Kiwis at the booth featuring New Zealand’s impressive bounty, like fresh, succulent oysters.
The Highlights
Having just celebrated its grand opening the night before, the Montage dazzled attendees during the Grand Tasting, sponsored, in part, by Modern Luxury Hawai‘i. The property’s terraced landscape gave way to a beautiful sunset vista—a dreamy backdrop for the top vintages being served. The evening’s soundtrack was provided by the incredibly talented Aiden James. Though only 12 years old, the ‘ukulele virtuoso rocked the resort with his impressive skills. –Photos by Jason Moore and Tony Novak-Clifford
