For a truly unique celebration of Hawaiian Christmas, tune in for a beneficiary holiday broadcast special for Maui, starring Kona-raised, Grammy-nominated recording artist Kimié Miner on Sunday, December 3, at 7 p.m. on Hawaiʻi News Now.
Enjoy the premiere of Christmas in Hawaiʻi with Kimié Miner & Friends, presented by Hawai‘i Community Foundation and Texaco in Hawai‘i, together with Haku Collective, International Market Place and OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels. Filmed on location at Oʻahu’s Ka Lai Aloha Estate, Miner will be joined by an unprecedented all-star lineup, including Henry Kapano, Jake Shimabukuro, the Mākaha Sons, the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra and many more fan favorites, for live performances and stunning throwback mele memories from the Christmas in Hawai‘i Tour shared across Hawai‘i Island, Maui, Kauai and Oahu. Plus, see Miner reminisce about what makes Christmas in Hawai‘i so special with her childhood friend and Emmy-lauded host, McKenna Maduli.
“Holidays in Hawaiʻi are a truly unique and cherished experience that unites us through our culture, stories, ʻohana and traditions. However, I know that this season, in particular, will be extremely challenging for those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihood to the August Maui wildfires,” says Miner. “We must be mindful, we must not forget, and we must gather to help and honor them.”
Throughout the hour-long special, helpful resources will be provided for viewers to support Maui families displaced by the tragic August wildfires through the Maui Strong Fund. Let’s open our hearts and gather our ʻohana around the TV and enjoy heartfelt and wholesome Hawaiian mele, laughter-filled talk story, hula, tradition, and, of course, a Hawaiian Christmas Luau with the one and only Hawaiian Santa.
