Pastel-colored orchids and structural anthuriums play with soft roses and touches of lavender in the world of Embellish (embellishmaui.com), a boutique event and catering business run on the Valley Isle. Founder Cveta Patton dreamed of living on a tropical island while growing up in Bulgaria, and she made that dream a reality when she moved to Maui in 2006. With her, she brought her childhood love of flowers and transformed it into an in-demand floral business that adorns weddings, curated dinners, and special events. “Embellish was born out of reverence for nature and deep desire of a life surrounded by flowers,” says Patton. Beyond bridal bouquets and floral decorations, Embellish also whips up botanical beverages. The popsicle drinks made from hibiscus, lavender, rose, and jasmine and topped with edible flowers are real crowd-pleasers. “I grew up sipping on homemade drinks made with flowers and fruits and herbal teas from crafted herbs and botanicals that I gathered with my grandmother in the wild,” she says. Embellish sources ingredients from local Maui farms and pairs them with pure rose nectar made from organic Bulgarian damask roses. It’s her focus on the plants’ aesthetic, aromatic, and medicinal qualities that make clients refer to her creations as “poetic.”
