Honolulu’s fashion cred grew by leaps and bounds last year, when revered British label Vivienne Westwood opened at the legendary Moana Surfrider. (The Waikīkī boutique remains the only other store in the country after Los Angeles.) So, when the anniversary arrived, the Westwood team invited its well-heeled clients and the island’s fashion crowd for a toast. Over glasses of bubbly and hip tunes, guests fawned over haute items from the house’s spring collections. The deliciously flashy men’s sneakers were definite standouts. The occasion also highlighted vivid bags from Kenya, produced under the groundbreaking Ethical Fashion Initiative. –Photos by Travis Okimoto
