Follow O‘ahu’s go-to fitness expert Tahiti Hernandez Kemper’s lead and transform your body and mind.

“If it’s not fun, you are doing it wrong,” says fitness instructor Tahiti Hernandez Kemper. “There are so many fun ways to keep yourself motivated and healthy. I think I best motivate others with good music, good energy and a good workout that makes you proud of yourself and want more.”
Together with her husband, pro surfer Billy Kemper, she opened Uproar Training Facility (uproarfitnessns.com), which is dedicated to providing the highest quality fitness and wellness services through a wide variety of classes and programs that focus on developing strength, agility, and overall physical and mental health for all fitness levels. “Fitness is our life, and it only made sense for Billy and me to open our gym to others,” she says.

Her focus is on creating a space where clients can challenge themselves and reach their goals while also having fun. At Uproar, Tahiti and her team of certified trainers offer a variety of classes, including yoga, spin, circuit, boxing and more.
“All my classes are full of energy and good music. It’s all about the right music and vibe. You’ve got to try one to understand,” she says. “The beauty of all my classes is that you can modify them to your needs. You can make it low impact or level up. Either way, you will see results. Because anything is better than nothing.”
Tahiti’s passion for health and wellness is contagious, and her enthusiasm for helping others achieve their fitness goals is inspiring. “What keeps me motivated is my positive connection to fitness and understanding that moving is a blessing, and knowing the impact that I’m making with my Uproar clients,” she says. “I love inspiring them to be the best version of themselves.”

In addition to running the North Shore gym, she organizes day retreats to help people find balance and better connect with their well-being. “We work out, we recover (sauna and ice), we mingle, we eat, we celebrate, we laugh and sometimes we cry, but it always ends with a full heart and a smile,” she says.
“It’s a day to celebrate yourself and fall in love with fitness and health and connect positivity to it. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health. So it’s a complete day of all-around self-love.”
Despite her busy schedule, she also takes time out of her hectic day to practice what she teaches. As a mother of four, her ideal day is waking up, sending her kids off to school, having a good cup of coffee, teaching a couple of classes, laughing, and being crazy with Billy and friends until her kids come home from school and it’s time to clock back into mommy mode.
“My wellness routine is also inspired by the island’s beautiful weather,” she says. “It inspires us to stay active and embrace every day.” Whether she’s swimming in the ocean, running on the beach or going on a hike, you’ll find her sharing her passions with her children on outdoor adventures, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Next up for Tahiti is her day retreat in July (find all the details at @uproarfitness_ns), where she can’t wait to share her wellness enthusiasm with a new group of people. “I love watching people re-fall in love with themselves and get a spark of remembering how badass they are.”
