One of Hawai‘i’s most celebrated hotel names, Halekulani has lent its name to one of Honolulu’s newest eateries: Halekulani Bakery & Restaurant, comfortably ensconced on the ground floor of the just-launched Halepuna Waikiki, Halekulani’s neighboring sister property. Located right off the lobby, this mod resto features a chic indoor dining room, as well as a lush outdoor lanai perfect for those who like their coffee on the go. While the atmosphere is deliciously relaxed, do expect the same exacting standards befitting the Halekulani moniker. The bakery, for instance, is overseen by Halekulani executive pastry chef Mark Freischmidt. Be sure to indulge in the exquisite artisan breads, cakes and pastries mindfully crafted by head baker Tatsuhiro Kaneshiro from the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo. (Patrons can even observe the artistry at work in a chocolate-viewing kitchen.) As the day progresses, lunch and dinner menus shifts to an a la carte menu, which puts an accent on locally procured ingredients prepared with panache.
