Honolulu native Lana Gronwald had one thing in mind when she founded Jules + Gem Hawaii in 2017. “I set out to make scented candles you want to eat,” she says. Her small-batch handpoured tropical votives are phthalate-free and draw inspiration from seasonal island fruits. Local favorites include aromas like guava nectar, passion fruit and mint, plus mango and papaya. For the holidays, look out for her coconut Christmas tree candle, which blends tropical notes with Fraser fir. In addition to candles, Jules + Gem Hawaii offers room sprays, diffusers and soap, all handmade in Gronwald’s Honolulu studio.
