As a perfect Waikīkī sunset cast a golden glow over The Modern Honolulu’s Sun Room and Terrace, top mix master DJ Anit set the mood for the islands’ interior insiders. The members of The Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers came together for the 2014 Design Excellence Awards, hosted by Olena Heu, former KHON presenter-turned-media darling. Stealing the show was Holly Boling-Ruiz of Philpotts Interiors, the Grand Overall Winner. But designing woman Chuen Yee proved herself a triple threat when she received three of the night’s nine awards. Homeowners in need of a makeover, take note! –Photos by Tracy Chan
