THE ISLAND’S GREEN WINDWARD SIDE, FLANKED BY THE KO‘OLAU MOUNTAIN RANGE, RECEIVES THE MOST RAINFALL. IN ANCIENT TIMES, HE‘EIA WAS AN AREA KNOWN FOR CULTIVATING WETLAND KALO (TARO), AND IT CONTINUES TO DO SO TODAY.
