Island Style

| August 28, 2014 | Parties

While Hawaiian cultural programs abound through the islands’ resorts, no one presents native traditions with as much finesse as The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on Maui, which recently presented the 22nd edition of its hugely popular Celebration of the Arts. Thanks to Cultural Director Clifford Nae‘ole, this year’s weekend program dazzled and delighted, from the moving sunrise E Ala Ē ceremony to dessert class by Pastry Chef Rafeeque Hameed and a workshop on traditional adornments with Kumu Hula Hokulani Holt. But the real jewel was the finale lū‘au, which served up The Ritz-Carlton’s signature take on Hawaiian dishes and live big-band sounds by Kahulanui. –Photos by Jason Moore
