The Valley Isle’s culture club partied the night away in support of the arts at Maui Calls 2016.
THE PARTY
With the theme of vintage Hawaiian fashion, this year’s edition of the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s annual fundraiser was especially spectacular, thanks to the stunning decor by Amanda Robson and FEAST Productions.
THE GUESTS
The MACC ‘ohana turned out for the fete, among them chairman Jimmy Haynes and his wife, Honey Bun Haynes; Robert and Dr. Mary Lou Morgado; Tony Takitani; Betty Leis; Stephen Leis; as well as family members of MACC founder “Pundy” Yokouchi: Jon, Leslie-Ann and Miki Yokouchi and Sheryl-Lynn Suzuki. A number of notable island politicos also attended, including Sen. Mazie Hirono and Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
The cultured crowd enjoyed the sweet sounds of two-time Grammy nominee Raiatea Helm, as well as an original piece by O‘ahu dancer/choreographer Mark Kanemura. The array of succulent bites by Maui’s best chefs with wines from around the world made the night equally tasteful. Another notable Maui Calls first: the participation of Tiffany & Co.’s Keys for a Cause. ‒Kai Andersen
