“The return of Jazz at The Shops is incredibly exciting as it brings together our local community and Maui visitors to enjoy the diverse styles of jazz while also supporting local artists,” says Diana Whitt, general manager and vice president of property management. “Our lineup showcases renowned musicians as a reflection of our commitment to enhance the guest experience at our recently revitalized center.” This summer, they kicked off the return with the beloved jazz concert series with Phil and Angela Benoit. Both have been performing for over two decades, and together they head the Maui-based jazz group Benoit Jazzworks. In September, the featured artist is guitarist and composer Benny Uyetake, otherwise known as Uncle Benny, who was born and raised in Hilo. With a long career playing alongside artists such as Judy Collins, Thompson Square, Henry Kapono, Diana Ross and Jake Shimabukuro, to name a few, he now performs at local festivals, enjoying the island lifestyle.
