THE PARTY At its Ala Moana Center boutique, Italian jewelry house Damiani hosted an enviable private viewing for its Honolulu VIPs to behold Miraculous, a jewel-bedecked Victoria’s Secret Fantasy bra. It features 60 carats of beguiling diamonds, accompanied by 82 carats of sapphires and topazes. The other hot news of the night: The sparkling occasion was just the first in a series of exclusive gatherings that Damiani–which has been dazzling the world of design since 1924—will hold with popular toque George Mavrothalassitis, better known in Honolulu as Chef Mavro. THE GUESTS Asayo Zuber, the director of Damiani in Hawai‘i, greeted noted guests such as Liz Kawananakoa, April Manson, Dr. David Lam, Denise Wandasan, Andrew Yim and Arie Vickers. THE HIGHLIGHTS Chef Mavro treated invitees to his famous one-bite pūpū to enjoy while they mingled and, of course, shopped for jewelry, such as a Damiani Butterfly white-gold ring with diamonds and sapphires. They also learned that it took the efforts of six craftsmen to hand-set the Miraculous bra, which had a price tag of $1 million. That’s only fitting for a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. –Photos by Travis Okimoto
