Honolulu’s 87Zero, which specializes in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork and more, recently expanded its offerings to raise the bar on luxury island living. The revamped store now houses the Miele Experience Center showcasing premium appliances, as well as the first Hawai‘i showroom for Italian company Ernestomeda, known for its sleek, sophisticated kitchens that are the epitome of innovative design and exceptional functionality.

“We tailor the kitchen to the customer’s needs,” says Janet Liu, 87Zero’s head of retail. “Some people cook a lot; some people entertain a lot. We’ll be able to assist the customer to figure out what would work best for their lifestyle.”

Across from Ernestomeda Hawai‘i, the Miele Experience Center features a kitchen with connected appliances so visitors may interact with Miele’s products firsthand. “The customer can come in and see live demos—we sometimes even do dishes and laundry with the customer,” Liu says. The 87Zero team plans to continue sharing its new space with the community, ideally utilizing the live kitchen for a local cooking show or as a platform for Hawai‘i’s up-and-coming chefs in the near future.

Ultimately, 87Zero is a place where customers can come to learn and gather inspiration, especially in a time when people desire more out of their spaces. “I’ve always been excited about bringing new ideas, the latest and greatest,” says 87Zero Managing Director Sanford Hasegawa. “People are at home and they want better than what they have, or they want something new. [These showrooms] are going to allow us to physically show people not just things that they may not be aware of but things that really can improve their daily lives.” By appointment only, 560 N.
