Maui Marvelous!

| July 9, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY For two action-packed days, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua feted Hawai‘i’s traditional arts, assembling cultural luminaries for one of the most unique events to take place at any luxury property in the islands. THE PLAYERS The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua’s General Manager Tom Donovan, Hokulani Holt, Ulalia Woodside, Keli‘i Brown, Nāpua Grieg THE HIGHLIGHTS The Ritz-Carlton’s Cultural Advisor Clifford Nae‘ole was right to call the festival a celebration of “five-star culture at a five-star resort.” The finale lū‘au was a veritable who’s who of Maui, not to mention a knockout party. Perfectly complementing the superb cuisine was the evening’s performances, including up-and-coming vocalist Kamakakehau Fernandez. Another treat was a hula spectacular staged by Pono Murray, whose mother, legendary former Miss Hawai‘i Patricia Lei Anderson-Murray, serenaded attendees. In a fun twist, Hawai‘i Island ensemble Kahulanui wowed the crowd with big band versions of Hawaiian classics. Photography by Randy Jay Braun and Jason Moore
