Planning the Fall Fashion/Interiors issue is always terrific fun. This year, we had a diverse group of minds, including Modern Luxury VP of Creative/Fashion Director James Aguiar, photographer Greg Hinsdale, editor Jasmine Lombardi and stylist Crystal Pancipanci, all calling in from different cities to curate what ended up being a stunning shoot at the elegant Halekulani Hotel.
At the shoot itself, we were all in awe of model Valerie Ferguson (who I originally thought was a mere teenager when I spotted her long, lanky self in the lobby), a dedicated mom of three who is also a registered nurse at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children in the breast cancer department. Ferguson’s chiseled yet angelic features and catlike eyes created an immensely powerful and female-forward mood. I personally was taken aback by her remarkable composure and calm, but perhaps it stems from her experience of juggling such huge responsibilities.
The fall styles we are featuring are all emblematic of a serious femme fatale, and I hope you enjoy the exquisite pieces showcased in the feature. Fashion is such a personal journey and mode of expression; our mission is that you will draw inspiration from the glossy pages and be motivated to try a new look or wear something you already own in a new and untried way.
