Colliding the worlds of luxury and street-savvy fashion, Montblanc and Public School New York have teamed up for a collection of bags and accessories made from regenerated fabric and other environmentally-conscious materials.
“With this unique collaboration, our goal is to give the environmentally conscious and opportunity to experience the disruptive streetwear of Public School New York, while also reaffirming their commitment to reducing their footprint on the planet,” said Sylvain Costof, president of Montblanc North America. “It is proof that a luxury leather collection can not only be stylish and truly functional, but it can also be conscientious and environmentally responsible.”
PSNY has been known for its sustainability principles, in addition to its challenging of the fashion industry’s classic conventions by blending idas of convergence and disruption. By channeling the restless energy of their hometown, PSNY continues to be bold.
“We have been very focused on having our goods be more environmentally responsible in recent years,” PSNY founder Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne said. “We are thrilled to be able to partner with Montblanc in its own effort to make luxury more conscious of the world around us.”
From the external fabric to a piece’s lining, all materials were particularly selected to minimize environmental impact during the development of this eco-friendly line. Econyl was among their primary materials that came from a regeneration process that recycled waste into the nylon yarn.
Montblanc x PSNY balances functionality and casual style through its five-piece assortment that captures the eyes of creative adventurers and urban explorers alike. The duffle, envelope, envelope mini and belt bag are composed of black regenerated nylon lined by an acid lime hue. The business card holder is made of grainy and acid green leathers that have undergone a carbon dioxide tanning process. Inscribed on it is “The pen(cil) is mightier than the sword,” a PSNY-customized version of Edward Bulwer-Lytton’s infamous saying as an ode to the power of the pen as a tool for good. The collection further applauds its planet-conscious consumer by including a stitching on each bag’s leather tag: “Those who dare, those who will, those who care make the difference.”
Montblanc x PSNY is available at Monblanc boutiques and its website, PublicSchoolNYC.com and MRPORTER.com.
