Musician Derek Gripper takes the Kahilu Theatre stage for one exclusive performance.
Gripper serenades the crowd with his guitar.

South African guitarist Derek Gripper is bringing his unique, classical toons to the Kahilu Theater Feb. 1 and it’s not to be missed. The acclaimed artist will perform music that explores the dialogue between the varying styles that have influenced his work over the years—including Bach. Gripper’s career has taken him on a journey of discovery including a 10 year project of translating music from the West African kora (a 21-string harp) virtuoso Toumani Diabate to his guitar. Since then, he has been awarded “Best Album Africa and Middle East,” which resulted in concert tours worldwide. Don’t miss the opportunity to listen to the unique musical creations by Gripper during his single performance. 7PM, tickets from $24, Kahilu Theatre
