Meet Marlow—a modern yet rustic culinary concept boasting speciality wood-fired pizzas led by husband and wife Jeff and Kaili Scheer. The restaurant comes from humble beginnings: During the 2020 restaurant shutdown, Maui Executive Catering chef Jeff and Kaili began making homemade pizzas in their spare time. Soon, the labor of love grew into a full-fledged idea, and Marlow was born.

Here, it all starts with the dough— sourdough, specifically. “It’s a much more flavorful bread and more digestible. It’s also more temperamental and has to be really cared for and looked after,” says Kaili. It’s a three-day process from start to finish, but the final result—an airy, flavorful crust—is well worth the wait.

The pies are topped with locally sourced meat from Malama Farms and freshly picked vegetables from upcountry farms in Kupa‘a and Lapa‘au. Says Kaili, “We feel a responsibility to support these people who are growing food here on Maui. It’s food security and a win-win for everyone.”
