“OluKai continues to honor the sense of place and culture of Hawai‘i with each of its stores, and I’m grateful to join them in welcoming guests into the new space and sharing the mo‘olelo of Wailea with visitors,” says Archie Kalepa, OluKai konohiki (caretaker). In Wailea, Matt Lindauer, head of creative, set the store’s theme with the story of Lea, the goddess of canoe-builders and her manifestation into an ‘elepaio bird. When you step inside the store you will see thematic elements throughout, including a mural of Lea created by local artist Shar Tu‘iasoa (@punkyaloha). “These design touch points support and elevate the actual product and our story of making and selling the most comfortable premium footwear for the island lifestyle,” says Landon John, director of retail. Exciting new products on display include OluKai’s new line of spikeless golf shoes for men and women, collaborations with the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association and iconic Hawaiian brands like Zippy’s and others.
