From the moment she steps off the plane in Hawai‘i, Australian designer Daniella Ciano can feel the aloha spirit. She drew inspiration from her twice-yearly visits to the islands to create her new swimwear line, Poolside Paradiso (poolsideparadiso.com). “I love the tropical color palettes I see everywhere when I’m here, the retro hotels, the vintage dad shirt prints!” she gushes. The buzzy brand is turning heads with its cool-surfer-girl vibes with pieces that are still classic and wearable. While the brand is inspired by decades past, it remains decidedly modern with flattering cuts and prints that aren’t too trendy. Silhouettes are designed to suit a range of body types, with both minimal and full-coverage bottoms, in luxe fabrics and textures. No newbie to the swim scene, Ciano designed for brands like Quiksilver, Rhythm and Billabong before venturing out on her own. Who exactly is the Poolside Paradiso woman? Says Ciano, “She’s feminine, confident, adventurous. She’s a wanderer, conscious global gypsy—chooses the road less traveled, opting always for golden moments under the sun.”
