Actor and honoree Randall Park of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat”

“We literally just got off a plane, and we like rushed over here. It took us three flights to get here!” said actor and honoree Randall Park (of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat”) with relief and candor as he described a somewhat perilous adventure trying to get to Honolulu with his wife, actress Jae Suh Park, in time to deliver his acceptance speech at the Awards Gala for the Halekulani Maverick Award at the 39th edition of the Hawai‘i International Film Festival. Other prestigious honorees were actress Elisabeth Moss (of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”) for the Halekulani Career Achievement Award and director John Woo (of “Mission: Impossible 2”) for the Halekulani Lifetime Achievement Award. An epic evening indeed.
