The Honolulu Museum of Art is proud to announce its partnership with renowned British artist Rebecca Louise Law, who has made her Hawai‘i debut with the opening of her yearlong show Awakening. The stunning immersive art experience transforms two galleries of the museum into a giant hanging garden. Visitors meander through flowers, leaves and seed pods strung together in groups and suspended in the air, creating a magical experience meant to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Law brought more than 1 million floral and botanical elements with her to Hawai‘i from her traveling collection that have been strung together by flower enthusiasts around the world, and combined it with 50,000 pieces of material collected here on island with the help of museum volunteers and the local community. Interspersed between the flora are also pieces of marine debris, a comment on humans’ impact and the fragility of nature. Through September 2023, honolulumuseum.org
