As the name would suggest, Kaua‘i’s newest shopping obsession, Sister Sister (sistersisterkauai.shop), is a family affair. Sister-in-laws Morgan and Xochitl Garcia, who both hail from sleepy little beach towns on the Central Coast of California, opened the colorful and chic boutique in December 2023 after working together at Shipwrecked Kaua‘i and dreaming of opening a second sister store. Located in the heart of Koloa in a leafy square next to The Fresh Shave and Morgan’s brother’s third location of Java Kai coffee, Sister Sister is a stylish and modern jewel box of a store. The sisters harnessed their love of fashion, beauty, and accessories to curate a swoon-worthy shopping experience filled with unique pieces from Hawai‘i and beyond. Customers can’t get enough of locally-made Damn Regina jewelry, Olivine Atelier perfumes, and their hand-embroidered Kaua‘i sweatshirts. Sister Sister stocks plenty of bathing suits and coverups for the inevitable impromptu dip at the beach or waterfall, but Xochitl’s obsession for winter is any of the specialty denim by Citizens with new shapes, patchworking, and unexpected details. As for Morgan, she’s excited to introduce some new brands for Spring ’25. “There is a jewelry line from our Paris trip, a reintroduction of Hawai‘i label, At Dawn (we are dying over the bloomers),” she notes, “and we are bringing in shoes!”
