The wildfires across Maui and the Big Island have been devastating. It is in times like these when coming together and providing support to those affected is so important. There are several ways locals and visitors can help the victims in need. Here are some ways to show support through organizations that are working hard to help Maui.
Support the Hawaiʻi Red Cross as they provide their expert assistance and shelter to victims.
GlobalGiving has set up a Hawaiʻi Wildfire Relief Fund, focusing donations toward supporting locally run organizations to provide food, water and supplies to survivors, and help with recovery efforts.
The Maui Food Bank has drop-off donations at various locations across Maui, plus online donations to help feed all those in need.
The Hawaiʻi Community Foundation is working to support affected communities through the Maui Strong Fund.
Maui United Way has set up a Maui fire relief fund that will go directly to support victims.
Along with donations, The Maui Humane Society is asking people to foster pets in need and drop off pet food, litter and pop-up kennels to help in aiding pets affected by the disaster.
New Life Kahuku Inc. has set up an Aid Lahaina fund with donations directly benefiting families in need by partnering with CNHA.
Continuing their mission to providing food and resources to those in need, The Salvation Army is accepting donations specifically for Maui.
‘Āina Momona (Hawaiian for the fertile or rich land) has two primary fundraisers: Kōkua Maui fund that goes to Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund; and Emergency Aid to Maui Families fund that is directly distributed to Maui families who have been verified by its communities partners to have been impacted by the Maui wildfires.
The Kākoʻo Maui Fund from the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement is providing resources that can be deployed quickly and efficiently to support recovery efforts on Maui.
