Dessert lovers from all over the islands made their way to The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii for the finale gala of the Big Island Chocolate Festival. This year’s third edition was graced by Jacques Torres, Food Network star and creator of his popular line of chocolates. But Torres was just one of the culinary masterminds at the resort. His colleagues filled the ballroom with delectable delights, including savory and sweet creations, cocktails and wine. (Chef Donald Wressel of Guittard Chocolate even created a sculpture made with 40 pounds of the sweet stuff.) The real delight, though, was the fact that proceeds from the soiree benefited the Equip the Kitchens campaign for the future Hawai‘i Community College at Palamanui and Kona Pacific Public Charter School—a delicious endeavor indeed! –Photos by Kirk Lee Aeder
