The redesigned 2020 Range Rover Evoque SUV blazes new trails with a slew of engineering surprises hidden beneath its modern, urban-friendly design.
Having sold more than 770,000 units worldwide since its 2010 launch, the Range Rover Evoque has proven a tremendous success. Geared toward urban dwellers who crave more size and weekend escape-ability, the Evoque strikes a chord with buyers looking for something not only sophisticated and luxurious, but also tremendously capable—able to bring them beyond the city limits to the great outdoors. For 2020, the Evoque becomes even more capable and luxurious, with added focus on sustainability.
For the first time on a Range Rover, the new Evoque offers a powerful yet fuel-efficient mild-hybrid electric vehicle powertrain. The mild-hybrid system works by harvesting energy normally lost during deceleration to recharge an underfloor battery. At speeds below 11 mph, the engine shuts off when the driver applies the brakes. Once the driver accelerates, the stored energy is redeployed to provide additional power, allowing the Evoque to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The best part? The 296-horsepower powertrain works seamlessly and is barely noticeable to the driver—except, of course, when it comes to the fuel savings. Expect the Evoque MHEV to get around 26 mpg on the highway.
From the outside, the Evoque’s shape is distinctly Range Rover. New flush deployable door handles keep the side lines clean, while the fast-rising belt line and dramatic wheel arches lend the Evoque its dynamic stance. Up front, slim LED headlamps stretch around the side of the vehicle, emphasizing its width. R-Dynamic trim levels include unique exterior touches such as burnished copper accents surrounding the rear exhaust, giving it a bespoke look.
Inside, Evoque occupants are treated to a more spacious and luxurious cabin, thanks to a slight increase in the wheelbase—though the actual length of the vehicle remains nearly unchanged. With the 0.8-inch increase, rear-seat occupants receive more leg and knee room. Plus, there are more storage areas and cubbies, including redesigned doors that accommodate 1.5-liter water bottles. With an eye toward sustainability, the Evoque also offers a leather-alternative premium fabric developed by Danish textile firm Kvadrat. The new, highly breathable wool-blend material paired with a technical Dinamica suede cloth is made from 53 recycled plastic bottles for every vehicle.
Once again, Range Rover sets the bar for capability and cutting-edge design with the 2020 Evoque. Look for the new Range Rover Evoque at Land Rover dealers now with a starting price of $42,650 for the base model and $46,600 for the MHEV. At Velocity Honolulu, 888 Kapiolani Blvc., Kaka‘ako, 593.8888
