First begun in 1906, this year's 49th Transpacific Yacht Race—known as Transpac for short—had competitors racing from Long Beach, Calif., to Diamond Head. To mark the occasion, an international array of boaters and their avid fans celebrated at Gosling's Okole Maluna party at the Hawaii Yacht Club. Watermen and revelers like sipped Dark & Stormy cocktails while munching on fresh, grilled savories. One racer had been at sea with his wife and small crew for a year—all the way from Norway. With a live Hawaiian band performing against midsummer evening breezes, boat enthusiasts celebrated the end of a long voyage, not to mention, the race's winner, Invisible Hand. Under Watch Captain Gavin Brady and Navigator Christopher Lewis, the yacht traveled 2,225 nautical miles in 8 days, 3 hours, 1 minute and 28 seconds.
